Week 12
This past week, we had a short week again. Half Day on Wednesday. We mostly worked on white boards. Also it was challenge day on Monday and Tuesday so we had less people. What we did in class was we learned how to do an equation that will help us with the assessment on Tuesday. It helped a lot. I understand how to do the equation and I'm ready for the assessment. We also went on the roof. We were in groups. We dropped items off the roof to see what would drop first to the ground. We also measured the height of the drop. It was pretty fun but cold.

Week 11
This week, we started a new unit. To be honest I really don't know what it's about but we went to the back tables and set up experiments. We set up ramps and cars to see the speed and velocity. We did this digitally, and drew down graphs. We also had a short assessment, 8 questions, that went pretty well. There was one man question and then the rest were about the one question. I don't really remember the question but I feel I did fine on it. Just another week in physics. Hopefully we can do one of those projects again!

Spaghetti Bridge
It was a short week last week because of Thanksgiving so we all presented our spaghetti bridges, most of us. The point was to see how much the bridge could hold. By the way, it had to be the lightest and strongest. I had a partner on this project, Diondre. We worked on this bridge the weekend before and it was good but we had one main problem. The spaghetti kept breaking so we used this super glue and that's what kept our bridge up for about 6 grams. It was fun and the business aspect kept me focused on it.

Week 10
This week we did a lot of white boards! We had an assessment on Friday and on Thursday, we got a review for the assessment. That helped me and hopefully the class out. I think we should continue with that. The white boards get kinda boring, but it helps us understand what other people think. One thing we had to do was draw examples of the most important things we learned in the section without using words and then share them with the class. Also we have a project to do. We have to build a spaghetti bridge. It is very difficult to do but I understand the whole concept of what we are trying to prove. It's like a business : ) overall the week went well and we should do more projects like these and do reviews for the assessments. It will help me and hopefully the rest of my classmates.

Week 9
This week was a short week. We had Tuesday off. We were going to have an assessment on Friday of last week but it got changed to Wednesday. We also did this experiment with springs. One person holds one end and the other holds the other end to see the force of the two people and the springs. What we did to find that out was we had the two people walk and try to keep the same amount of newtons. Once forward and then once backward. I'm not sure how we got the third measurement. Then, as usual, we put our information on a white board and discussed it in class. Also we looked over our assessments. Each group did a question on a white board and we had to explain how we got that answer. It helps to review the assessments so it can help you later on. I like that and we should do that after every time we have an assessment

Week 8
This week we took a look at unbalanced forces. We took 3 masses of the same weight and balanced them on a table. 2 masses were hanging off the edge of the table and when we let go of the third weight, we were asked, what direction will the string pull when we let go of the third weight. We also looked at center of mass. We did multiple experiments to do this. We took 4 people, sat them in chairs to see if they would balance. They laid on each others knees and we pulled away the chairs and all of them balanced. It was pretty cool. We also looked at when picking up a chair. We did it first without being against the wall. Then we tried it against the wall and it was much harder to pick up the chair. Another experiment we tried was moving our legs, when against the wall, we could not balance ourselves. Also we tried picking up a pencil and we could not do it while against the wall. All of these experiments had a purpose and that purpose is to see what effects the way we do things and why does our center of mass change

Push and Pull
This week we learned about newtons. What they are used for and why we use them. We used them in an lab where we used weights and springs. We graphed the 5 measurements and wrote and equation for it on a white board. We talked about them all in class. On Friday we had a sub and took an assessment on newtons, springs, and weights.

Week of 10/1/12
This past week, we looked at graphs to determine position vs time and velocity vs time. Position vs time we found that how much time it took an object to get somewhere, would determine its position. In the velocity vs time, the velocity of an object would determine its time. This is important to us to know so we can predict how much time it would takes to get somewhere.

Week 1 Physics Reflection
Physics is going to fun and exciting. There is a lot that is going to be new to me but i am eager to learn it. I love how its like visible and hands on and how everything is explained. Its really different from the past 2 years. In Bio and Earth it was more notes based and i feel in this class we do more visual things. This first week in Physics feels great but hard to really say how this year is going to be.
I can tell that its going to be fun yet challenging. Since all my brothers and sisters took physics, I have really good sense of what we might do. It could be different but i just have to wait and see.Physics is always gonna be a surprise, like it will never be the same each day like the past 2 years.
What I'm really looking forward to is what we will do project wise through out the year. I love hands on things, its just easier for me. I feel like Physics is going to be one of my favorite classes.
